About Me
My name is Angela and I am a Social and Emotional Learning Specialist with Austin Independent School District. Formally, I taught social communication skills at Boone Elementary School. My husband, Rey and I live in south Austin with our sweet toddler, Mateo, and our two Shih Tzus, Sadie Belle and Penny Love. Our house is certainly full of love! I grew up in Austin and graduated from UT in 2004 with a Bachelor's degree in Applied Learning and Development and a minor in Childhood Studies. Hook 'Em!! I interned and student taught at Boone in second and first grade classrooms. In 2005, I was lucky enough to be hired as a first grade teacher at Boone. I enjoyed teaching first grade for two years and then decided to make the transition to SCORES. I was a SCORES teacher for six years. I recently made the transition to becoming a Social and Emotional Learning Specialist for the district. What an exciting new journey I am on! Teaching social communication and emotional skills has always been my passion and I truly enjoy collaborating with educators! Social and emotional learning is absolutely vital for children to succeed at school and in life. I am motivated and inspired to continue this important work! I am lucky to love what I do!
